Economic Impact Payment Resources
Details to help you get fast, safe access to your economic impact payment

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service announced the distribution of economic impact payments to help Americans combat the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As always, FinancialEdge Credit Union is committed to providing the guidance and support you need so you can focus on your loved ones’ health and wellness and staying safe. If your finances have been impacted by the pandemic, you're not alone. We’re here to help you understand how to get your economic impact payment quickly and safely.

Economic impact payment tips:

  1. Check to see if you’re eligible. Visit irs.gov/coronavirus for questions on eligibility.
  2. Get your money faster with Direct Deposit. If the IRS does not have your direct deposit information from your 2018 or 2019 return – and they haven’t yet sent your payment – use the link below then click on GET MY PAYMENT
    UPDATE DIRECT DEPOSIT INFORMATION
  3. If you do not normally file a tax return, the U.S. Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have launched a new web tool allowing quick registration for Economic Impact Payments. Visit the link below to enter payment information and learn more about what information is required.
    UPDATE PAYMENT INFORMATION - NON-FILERS

The first wave of electronic EIP payments began last Friday, to appear in eligible accounts this week. Because the capacity to generate physical checks and mail them is limited, the roll out will be in batches for weeks or even months.

How much money am I eligible for?
According to the U.S. Treasury, tax filers with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 for individuals and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns will receive the full payment. For filers with income above those amounts, the payment amount is reduced by $5 for each $100 above the $75,000/$150,000 thresholds. Single filers with income exceeding $99,000 and $198,000 for joint filers with no children are not eligible.

Eligible taxpayers who filed tax returns for either 2019 or 2018 and provided direct deposit information will automatically receive an economic impact payment of up to $1,200 for individuals or $2,400 for married couples - no additional action required. Parents also receive $500 for each qualifying child.

If you’re not typically required to file taxes and don’t receive Social Security benefits, you’ll need to file a simple return.

Visit https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payment-information-center for more information. Need help finding your account or routing number?  You can typically find your account and routing number on the bottom left-hand corner of a personal check. The routing number is the first set of numbers and is typically nine digits (our routing number is 272 476 844). The next set of numbers - just to the right of the routing number - is your account number.  If you don’t have a check handy and aren't sure what your account number is, you can find your account number within ElectronicEdge (online banking), via the EdgeMobile App, or by calling us at 989-892-6088 during business hours.

Protect yourself from fraud and scams Scammers are already trying to take advantage of COVID-19 to steal your money or personal information.

Be aware, they may:

  • Ask you to sign over your economic impact payment check to them.
  • Ask by phone, email, text or social media for verification of personal and/or banking information saying that the information is needed to receive or speed up your economic impact payment.
  • Suggest you can get a tax refund or economic impact payment faster by working on your behalf. This scam could be conducted by social media or even in person. Learn more about protecting yourself from fraud and scams in the FAQs below.

Tools to help you manage your money

  • ElectronicEdge online banking and EdgeMobile app: Check balances, pay bills, transfer money and more.
  • EdgeDeposit: If you do get a paper check, depending on the amount you may be eligible to deposit it with EdgeDeposit, our remote check deposit tool. Just take a quick photo of a check to make a deposit into your account, right from our app.
  • Paypal Person to Person payments: Send and receive money with your friends and family! Fast, safe and easy right from the EdgeMobile app

Valued Members and Staff,

March 13, 2020

Valued Members and Staff,

As we continue to monitor the progress and impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we want to remind you that the health, safety and financial well-being of our members is our top priority. We want to assure you that we are helping to keep our staff and members healthy by taking preventative measures in our branches while continuing to assist in all financial needs. Some of these measures include continuous cleaning of common areas and sanitizing wipes available for both our staff and members to use at both branch locations.

FinancialEdge Credit Union management is actively preparing for scenarios to maintain member stability if our operations are impacted. We have now implemented our Pandemic Business Continuity Plan which is annually revised and approved by our Board of Directors. We have also connected with all of our staff to stress the importance of personal preventative measures as well as staying home or seeking medical care if they are not feeling well. They have also been provided the CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of the disease.

At this time, all branch locations are open and fully operational with the exception of our coin machines and beverage stations that are temporarily closed. If there are any situations that occur that would impact the operations of our branches all members will be notified in a timely matter. Notices will be sent out through email and will also be posted on our website and social media so please monitor those platforms frequently.

Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking members to take advantage of our remote services whenever possible for their banking needs. For those that wish to limit face-to-face interaction please take advantage of our alternative services:

  • Online Banking – 24/7 account access. Check account balances and history, transfer money, make loan and credit card payments, pay bills and receive eStatments
  • Mobile App – 24/7 account access. Check your account balances and transactions, transfer money, pay bills, mobile check deposit and text alerts
  • CardNav – Ensure your card is safe by turning your card on or off, using GPS to restrict transactions, limit purchase amounts, and receive real-time alerts
  • Mobile Deposit – Available in our EdgeMobile app, you can deposit checks into your FinancialEdge account with the snap of a photo
  • Online ApplicationsNew account, loan and mortgage applications are all able to be completed online
  • Order Checks – If you’re running low on checks you are able to order more online
  • Call Center – Give us a call at (989) 892-6088 for inquiries on your account
  • Drive Thru – Available at both branch locations. Check account balances, deposit cash and checks, withdraw cash, transfer funds and more
  • ATMs – Visit any of our ATMs to withdraw or deposit cash or to deposit checks. FinancialEdge is a part of the CO-OP network so you also have access to nearly 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs

In order to ensure the health of our staff and members make sure you are taking preventative measures as well. Stay home or seek medical care if you are feeling sick, wash your hands frequently with soap and water and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

During this time please also be on the lookout for scammers that are following the headlines. Be cautious about what you click on and purchase - scammers want to take advantage of any vulnerability they can. They tend to disguise their scam based on what hot topic is in the news in order to take your money and get your personal information. Just as you are taking precautions for your health, make sure you are taking precautions for your finances as well.

Check out some tips the Federal Trade Commission has suggested on how to avoid being scammed during this time:
